Use THIS, Not THAT! Norwex Toilet Cleaner Wand vs. Clorox ToiletWand
If you’ve read my review for the Norwex Sanira System for toilet cleaning, you know it is one of my absolute favorite products. Toilet cleaning is so easy to ignore, but it doesn’t take much to accumulate some seriously grody scum inside that bowl.
There are SO many toilet cleaning products out there, and many of them are made of strong, harsh chemicals. These companies have us convinced that since it involves bathroom waste, only the roughest, toughest products… Continue reading
Gradual Green: Creating a Healthy, Green Bathroom
The other day I discussed a few steps on greening up your kitchen, and now it’s time for another room that uses a lot of water and energy – the bathroom!
Between excessive hot water use, kids who forget to shut off the light, and the need to regularly clean and sanitize the sink and tub to keep everyone healthy, it’s no surprise that a good portion of our energy costs come from the bathroom. If you’re curious… Continue reading
Hard Water: Where Does It Come From and How Do I Clean Up After It?
If you have hard water in your home, you know it loves to leave hard water stains – nasty brown or white spots and soap scum on your bathtub, sinks, and clothes, making everything twice as hard to keep clean. Hard water occurs from a high concentration of dissolved minerals – usually calcium, magnesium, & iron – that are picked up by it on the way to (and from) the processing plant. It can be a real pain to constantly… Continue reading
Use This, NOT That! Norwex Mop System vs. Mop & Glo
If you have children or pets, you know that everything goes in their mouths. It’s nearly impossible to keep everything out of their hands and paws, and yet so many of us clean our homes – including our floors – with strong chemical cleaners. If your kids are crawling around or keep their toys on a freshly mopped floor, you know those chemicals will eventually land in their mouth, in their eyes, and all over their skin.
That’s why… Continue reading
The Truth About Cleaning With Bleach
I will be the first to admit that I use bleach on occasion, particularly when my kids have the pukin’ flu, but as far as anything else goes, it is not a product I like to keep or use regularly in my home.
I know many of us, especially Moms, think bleach is the miracle cleaner that kills everything and sanitizes our home to the safest standards possible. Unfortunately, it’s not. Not only are there a lot of myths… Continue reading
Use This, Not That! Scrubbing Bubbles Shower Cleaner vs Norwex Descaler
This post kicks off a new series here on the Healthy Home Cleaning blog – “Use This Not That!” I’m going to be tackling a list of some of the most dangerous household cleaners (found here) and giving a rundown on everything you need to know about the harsh chemicals in them, along with information on which Norwex product will do the same job safely and efficiently. How’s that sound? Good? Good!
Today’s dangerous cleaning product I am tackling… Continue reading
Norwex Toilet Cleaner – Review
Ahhh, the Norwex Sanira System for chemical-free toilet cleaning. This is undoubtedly one of my absolute favorite Norwex products. It gets toilets sparkling clean without the need for any of the harsh chemical cleaners you’re probably used to.
Here’s some general information about the Norwex Toilet Cleaner and things I LOVE about it:
- The cleaning solution in the Sanira System is vegetable based with coconut oil and a naturally occurring sugar surfactant
- Both the brush and cleaning solution are… Continue reading
Norwex Magnet Ball
Norwex describes the Magnet Ball as a money-saving device that removes calcium molecules from the water by magnetically attracting them to the inside of the ball.
This action supposedly makes the water behave as though it was “soft”. The premise of the device is that because soft water requires less detergent, you will save money on detergent in your dishwasher and washing machine if you just stick the Magnet Ball in at the start of a wash cycle. In fact,… Continue reading
Odour Eliminator – Review
I finally got around to trying the Norwex Odour Eliminator, and it has quickly become one of my favorite Norwex products. This stuff is biodegradable, and chemical-free. It’s enzyme-based, and the “critters” in it eat through the bacteria that causes organic odours. Odour Eliminator removes organic smells instantly, safely and without toxic chemicals.
The first place I tried Odour Eliminator was in my young son’s plastic toy chest, where I’ve… Continue reading
Review – Norwex Microfiber Mop
For years, I’ve been on a mission to find what I consider the perfect mop. Here are the things I look for in a mop to make my life easier:
- mop pads are microfiber (contains static electricity to hold dirt)
- mop pads stick to the base easily and keep sticking over time
- mop pads allow for quick and easy dusting and shining my floors
- mop pads pick up dust bunnies, crumbs, pet and people… Continue reading

The Norwex Bathroom Scrub Mitt is quickly becoming one of my FAVORITE Norwex products, and although it’s name doesn’t indicate it, this little mitt works all over the house, not just in the bathroom.

The Norwex Bathroom Scrub Mitt combines the scrubby power of the Norwex… Continue reading
Norwex Descaler – Review
Norwex DeScaler is the absolute best thing I’ve found for soap scum and limescale removal.
It easily removes the “yuck” on shower doors, bathroom taps and other places where soap scum and lime and rust are a problem.
This stuff is enzyme based – free of hazardous chemicals and enviro friendly. The enzymes in the DeScaler actually eat the soap scum! I just spray it on, wait 5 -10 minutes, and wipe off with my wet Antibac Cloth. It’s incredible.… Continue reading
Norwex Window Cloth – Review
The theory is that the Norwex Window Cloth will polish smooth surfaces, such as your windows, mirrors and granite counters, to a streak-free, brilliant shine, but the question remains, “does it actually work?”
The answer, based on my personal experience, is a HUGE “Yes!”
I’m sure that when I say, “I hate washing windows”, I’m expressing the sentiment of many people reading this blog. I hate using the mounds of paper towel, spraying the Windex (which always gave me a… Continue reading
