Norwex Scientific Review
Fisher designed a scientific test in which several dozen sterile petri dishes were contaminated with e-coli bacteria.
Several dishes were treated with a paper towel sprayed with a leading all-purpose cleaner. Others petri dishes were cleaned with a generic microfiber towel soaked… Continue reading
It’s fruit fly season. They are EVERYWHERE and they are so GROSS, and such a nuisance.
Actually, I don’t know if “fruit fly season” is a real thing, but here in my little part of the world, fruit flies arrive in ABUNDANCE during late August and September, and getting rid of them before they take over our house, proves to be a challenge every year.
After trying a few different fruit fly traps, I’ve found the one that has worked the best for me. Continue reading
Summer’s almost over. I feel a deeper level of sadness about it this year than I have other years. I’ve really, REALLY loved this summer.
... beautiful weather, meaningful visits from far away family, lots of long, lazy days at the beach, busy days tending to our vegetable gardens, delicious harvests, countless BBQ’s, late game nights with friends & family, kick-the-can in the backyard, and SO much ice cream…
I know some moms are ready for their kids to… Continue reading
Before summer is over and clothes-line drying weather comes to an end, I have to share one of my favorite laundry recipes!
Bleach used to be a regular cast member in my laundry saga. I added a good sized glug to every load of whites, to whiten and brighten and keep them from looking greyish.
I don’t use bleach to whiten anymore – it’s been removed from my laundry rountine, it simply isn’t worth it.
You may remember my post… Continue reading
Does the below picture gross you out?
If you, or someone you love suffers with dust allergies, you know how critical it is to reduce their numbers in your home.
Did you know that most dust allergy sufferers are allergic to the dust mite’s POOP?
I know… Yuck.
It’s the protein in the dust mite feces that irritates the mucus membranes of your sinuses causing sneezing, congestion, itchy & watery eyes, couching, dark circles under the eyes & asthma flare… Continue reading

So far in our spring cleaning series we’ve conquered the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, office, closets, and living/family rooms with a handful of Norwex products, lots of determination, and a little elbow grease to boot. This means it’s time to head outside… to the garage!
For a lot of us, the garage is like a giant outdoor closet. It’s so easy to pile it up with seasonal items and things you want to sell or get… Continue reading
Closets can be a blessing and a curse. On one hand, they are great for keeping seasonal clothing and spare linens tucked away, but on the other hand, they are the prime place for that “out of sight, out of mind” mentality to grow. It’s way too easy to stuff old clothes, housewares, and unused gifts into the closet to get them out of the way for the time being, but the day you open the doors looking for one… Continue reading
If you’ve been following our spring cleaning series over the last few weeks, we’ve given a rundown on how to clean just about every room in your home using only Norwex products. Now it’s time for one of the biggest jobs of all – the bedrooms!
Whether you have two bedrooms or six, cleaning them all is bound to be a time-consuming task. Not only that, but if there is any area of the home where it is crucial… Continue reading
Yes, I know it’s June 21st, the official first day of summer, but spring continues in the Peterson household, and spring cleaning posts continue on my blog!
Today’s spring cleaning post tackles one of the most daunting tasks in any cleaning routine: the bathroom. Every time I go to clean my bathroom, it feels like there is an endless amount of surface confined into a relatively small room that is in need of more attention than any other space in… Continue reading

The other day I was browsing the local news when I came across an article on the potential dangers of antibacterial soaps. I have never really questioned dish or hand soap because it is generally more mild than other products, but federal health regulators are now questioning triclosan – the germ-killing ingredient in 75% of these products – and whether it is as effective and harmless as we think.
Later this year, the U.S. Food and… Continue reading
Since I work from home, I spend a lot of time in my home office filling orders, filing paperwork, writing blog posts, and handling customer inquiries. Needless to say, I love my work but it can be a challenge to keep everything clean and organized when there is so much work to get done! I tend to give my office a deep clean twice a year, which is a great time to not only scrub everything down and zap up… Continue reading

One of the biggest misconceptions about the refrigerator is that bacteria cannot grow in the cold temperature. As convenient as that would be, it is simply not the case! Whether it’s raw chicken leaking traces of juice out of the bag or unwashed fruits and veggies piled into the crisper drawer, there are all sorts of opportunities for bacteria to grow and spread inside your fridge. There’s also the issue of chemical contamination in your fridge, depending on… Continue reading
Today we’re going to explore the dangers of Windex®. This is one chemical cleaner that has always irritated my body. Not only is it a hassle to play “beat the clock” as you attempt to clean every corner of the window before the spray drips to the bottom, but the smell is so strong, I was always putting off my window cleaning until I absolutely had no choice. It was inevitable that using Windex, or any other window cleaning… Continue reading
I’ve been doing a little spring cleaning around my apartment over the last several weeks, most of which involves getting rid of old clothes, organizing my desk, and lazily adding more stuff to my storage area. One chore I tend to neglect the most is dusting, which is pretty bad since I live next to some train tracks and the windowsills get very dusty from debris when the windows are open.
I completely forgot that Deja sent… Continue reading
Dryer sheets are one product I am so happy to have replaced in my household. I used to use them because I hated pulling static filled clothes out of the dryer, but as I read more about the dangers of dryer sheets, I began to realize it just wasn’t worth the risk.
Sure, dryer sheets & liquid fabric softeners eliminate static & make our clothes smell like “spring breezes” and “ocean winds” – and as I’ve said before,… Continue reading
